Education on Resume

I didn't graduate high school so what should I put on education?

Answer:

Since you did not graduate from high school, there are a couple of different options.

  • If you have earned a GED, you can indicate your GED instead of a high school diploma.
    Example:
    GED High School Equivalency Diploma
U.S.A. Senior High School, Springfield, IL

  • If you do not have a diploma or a GED, you can either not mention high school at all, or just indicate the years that you did attend high school, without using the word "diploma."
    Example:
U.S.A. Senior High School, Springfield, IL
    1995 - 1999

  • It is important though, that if the employer asks about high school (either verbally or on the application), tell them that you did not graduate, to show that you are honest.

You could also include a section called "Special Training" and include any training that you have received outside of high school, such as…

    • Licenses

    • Certifications

    • Special training, job-related seminars, and workshops

    • Training completed at your current or previous jobs and career development training

I hope that you find this information useful, and good luck in your job search!

    Sincerely,
    Victoria E.
