(Curitiba - Brazil - South America)
Hello,
My name is Fernando. I´m Brazilian, living in Brazil. A few months ago I had been looking for jobs in the U.S. My area is engineering and I have the desired skills and experience that the employers are asking. I went to the U.S. in July, for my current company that has the Headquarters in Chicago.
I really like this country and an international experience is something good whatever your kind of job. I´d like to send my resume to the company in the U.S. However, I can't make mistakes, maybe I have just one chance to have my resume read by a recruiter.
Well I want your help to know how can I do this resume, if I have to put some special information, or make a resume equal an American?
Could you please help me?
Regards
Fernando Medeiros
Answer:
Hi Fernando,
I completely agree that international experience is very valuable in the United States, as well as in other countries.
Your resume is definitely your first impression on the employer and any mistakes could ruin your chances of moving forward in the hiring process.
Your resume does need to be formatted in a way that a recruiter from the United States can easily understand. It will be difficult for me to provide specific advice unless I see your resume.
I will send you an e-mail. If you would like to respond to that e-mail and attach a copy of your resume, I will review it and get back to you.
Sincerely,
Victoria E.
